What is Contentful?

As a content author at your company or organization, you might be using a CMS that was either purchased (Wordpress, Sitecore, Adobe AEM, etc.) or built in-house. While there is comfort in the familiarity of using a traditional CMS, they are ultimately an inefficient and ineffective way of sharing your work with the world.

The most glaring problem with these systems is that they are website-centric. They force you to edit pages and posts, resulting in you spending way more time worrying about the presentation rather than the content. They also trap your content in pages, making it incredibly difficult to reuse content across different platforms and devices.

Unlike traditional CMSes, Contentful separates the front-end (the display of content to users) from the back-end (the platform that organizes and stores content). It also provides users with a framework for organizing and defining the relationships between their types of content. This approach allows you to easily manage and distribute content to multiple devices (websites, mobile apps, digital signage, audio guides, etc) and platforms.
